Bárbara Royo García began her professional career in 1999, joining the prestigious professional firm specialising in Criminal Law, “Manuel Cobo del Rosal”. Criminal Law and Prison Law, due to the interests at stake (in most cases, freedom) require a specific specialisation and a specific experience in the world of crime, prison, the different courts of justice and the precise legal tools, different from other areas of Law.

Recognised by the prestigious international publication Best Lawyers as one of the best lawyers specialising in Litigation in Spain, she has a degree in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid and is a practising lawyer throughout Spain. She is a member of the Madrid Bar Association. She is a criminologist from the Complutense University of Madrid. Her academic training is enriched by: DEA (Diploma of Advanced Studies awarded by the Complutense University of Madrid), Master in Criminal Law, Professional Ethics and legal assistance to detainees (Centro de Estudios Superiores – CESEJ) and countless courses and seminars on Criminal Procedural Law,

Penitentiary, Constitutional and Criminology.

In the field of university teaching, Bárbara Royo García has been a lecturer in “Prevention and Treatment of Crime”, “Criminal Policy” and “Criminal Procedural Law” in the Department of Criminology at the Camilo José Cela University. She has given several lectures, courses and interventions in different seminars and congresses related to Criminology and Criminal/Penitentiary Law, both at the Camilo José Cela University, the European University of Madrid and the Autonomous University, as well as at the General Directorate of the Police. She actively participates as a speaker in courses and seminars at the Madrid Bar Association. She currently teaches “Real Cases” at the Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economía.

She has published in Aranzadi manuals, in the OTROSÍ magazine of the Madrid Bar Association, press articles in the national media and a multitude of columns related to Law and Criminology, as well as various interventions and collaborations in different media.
